Join Lexi, the Cycle Witch + CUNTOPIA founder, in a workshop on the four phases of the infradian, lunar and menstrual cycles specifically geared towards yoga instructors, energy healers, coaches and employers. Even if you don’t menstruate, many of your clients do. It is your responsibility to be aware of how this affects their healing needs so you are not further harming them with practices that historically only consider circadian rhythm + testosterone dominant bodies, mental health and disposition.

MAKE LOVE TO GRAVITY - Intro to Contemporary Dance

Learn the fundamentals of dance as movement through time and space and how the impetus of ALL movement, starts with our relationship to gravity- to the EARTH. Through Fall and Recovery technique, learn to pray through your connection to the floor/to the earth beneath your feet with the essentials of contemporary dance floorwork for all levels and ages. Using Feldenkrais, Bartenieff, Laban, AFCMD Humphrey and Limon fundamentals, for all levels and ages.

Learn contact improvisation tools, consent education + safety in moving/touching together and explore in a supportive open space how to use improvisation, play, gravity + contact tools to JAM without feeling self-conscious in an open forum ecstatic dance and appropriate, safe protocol to partner improvisation. This is for all levels for both trained or non-trained movers.

After three long years of covid, re-grouping and refocusing on our mission and purpose, we are beginning to emerge from our chrysalis.

"The Chrysalis" is a re-uniting of The Beauty In The Backyard family as we begin to open our wings with more clarity and intention than ever before. This experience is for bringing together the community and generating energy and funds for Beauty In The Backyard to grow bigger and more impactful.

The gathering is a community-run micro-festival & camping retreat with live music, interactive arts, activities, workshops, play-shops, performances, a potluck, plant walks, earth skills, meditation, yoga, delicious food, good people and incredible vibes.

Our dear friends at Roots to Sky Sanctuary are hosting us this year and we are thrilled to introduce their land as home of "The Chrysalis". Roots to Sky Sanctuary (RTSS) is a BIPOC-owned partnership for social good. RTSS gathers decades of collective expertise in health and wellness, entrepreneurship, plant medicine, activism, food justice, restorative justice, education, and arts programming to create a cutting edge multi-use property serving local counties and our existing communities from metropolitan areas.

"The Chrysalis" (BITB23) will be an intimate, expansive experience that will provide a space for us to re-connect, explore, celebrate and regenerate.

FULL LINEUP OF ACTIVITIES, WORKSHOPS, PLAYSHOPS, PERFORMANCES & ACTIVATIONS COMING SOON! 

FOOD & DRINK Plant based food and a co-created community kitchen will be available. Please bring a labeled, plant-based dish or a small contribution for the community potluck on Friday evening. 

LODGING Camping is included with the purchase of every experience pass. Glamping and hostel dorm beds are sold separately.

PARKING Please carpool on your way to The Backyard! You never know, you may just meet your new best friend! Most participants are able to coordinate rides in the discussion section of our facebook event page.

Re-entry is allowed for an additional $20 and the gates will be CLOSED 12am-7am daily.

• Please bring your own plate and cup for the potluck and food vendors. A dishwashing station will be provided, and there will be a composting area for biodegradable items. • Please be prepared to take out what you bring in and leave no trace. All participants are responsible for taking all of their trash and recyclables from the venue and disposing of all items in an appropriate manner.
